A Must Have Check-List For All Project Managers

Don't be fooled by the small size of this book. Each chapter is packed full of useful information. Organized like a check-list, it reminds project managers the do's and don'ts for any project.

Once again, Rick is able to boil difficult concepts down to simple terms in this easy-to-read book. My favorite chapters are: The Pricing Game, Guess the Truth!, and Grapevine. It is so easy to not follow these basic steps when the pressure is turned up. I have highlighted many sample conversations suggested in this book to help me through tough situations in the future.

This is one of the books that will go with me on all projects.

Great Experience!

This was such an easy transaction! My daughter needed this book for college in January and this rental was the best price I could find. The book came quickly, was in wonderful condition and all the expectations and instructions were clearly explained. She used the book this past semester, and then Amazon even sent me a reminder that its return date was coming up. I had saved the original box so I just printed the label, followed the instructions and dropped the book in a mail box. I was able to track it from the label, saw when it was accepted back, and within just a matter of days, I received confirmation that the rental was closed! So easy and effortless! I highly recommend using this service!!!!!!!

Great for dancers and therapists

This book is a great resource for dancers and physical therapists alike. The concepts are presented in a clear and concise manner and the chapters include useful exercises to help make the material stick. The book also includes exercises and health plans for common dance and athletic ailments which is useful for readers! This is a textbook that is valuable for taking care of yourself, learning about kinesiology in general and as it relates specifically to the dancer, and supplements your research and papers as a source. This is a textbook to keep well after your course and would be an excellent teaching tool.

I am naturally creative. I write music, books, poetry. I decorate, paint, garden and cook. I have inventions and workshops that are original and
enterprising. Still, there is a lot to benefit from in this book.
First of all, Odunsi mentions that things that work for me...including being in nature, taking risks, expanding your circle, changing your
habits....but there is more.

There is a lot of meat here too..this might have been a college thesis, for example. Its not all fluff. If you want to break out into your best
self, this book is an excellent guide. GO FOR IT!

This excellent, engaging book ought to turn public attention back toward Ramadan as a writer and a skilled interpreter of Islamic history. In deliberately brief chapters, Ramadan brings Muhammad to life. He highlights Muhammad's resolute faith in spite of setbacks like orphanhood and poverty, and upholds the prophet as a spiritual hero—bravely compassionate and unusually tolerant of others, including non-Muslims. Ramadan notes his extraordinary kindness, even to those he battled. For example, a slave who had been given to Muhammad turned down emancipation, saying he preferred service to Muhammad over freedom with anyone else. (Muhammad immediately freed the slave and adopted him as his own son.) Similar tales of mercy lace through Muhammad's life: in the midst of a battle march, Muhammad advised his troops to be careful not to hurt a litter of puppies on the roadside; on another occasion, Muhammad released prisoners of war because they had taught community children how to read and write. Tariq Ramadan teaches philosophy and Islamic Studies at the University of Fryeburg (Switzerland). He has been engaged in the debate about the place and situation of Muslims in the West, and he regularly contributes to reflections on the 'awakening of Islam' in Muslim majority societies.

Great Read, whatever your personal belief

This biography of Prophet Muhammad can be called a "spiritual biography" that tells the story of a life but emphasizes decisions, revelations, and the spiritual and emotional lessons therein. Emerick's biography of the Prophet and that by Karen Armstrong are good, this is better. Incidentally, it hints at the paranoia of those in government who cancelled the author's visa while he was en route to teach at Notre Dame University. (I taught there briefly and can assure you that it is not a hot bed of radicalism.)

The position of women, place of jihad, role of law, and relations with non-Muslims are totally different than the media caricatures and also different from some Fundamentalist politicization and corruptions.

Under duress and attack we see un Islamic practices claiming to be Fundamental (the Western media is more than happy to second that claim). One needs to know that the Shari'a is partly a product, close to two centuries later, that evolved to empower scholarly elite promoting its own interests by which time patriarchal elements had also degraded practice regarding women some - although women had right of inheritance not much available in the West until the 19th and 20th centuries except for royalty.. Also, the most infamous practices predated Islam in much of the Mediterranean - the stoning of adulterers was now much harder to prove that before.

It is reading for those who have an open mind and would learn more, for those who aren't quite sure what to believe after the pervasive toxic climate of criticism. Christians and Jews are very much at a disadvantage in that Muslims know far more about their faiths naturally from reading the Qur'an than they would know without significant effort. Moses, Noah, Jesus and Mary are Prophets of Islam (Mary appears in the Qur'an more times than the Bible).

It should be reading for the many shamefully ignorant critics like Robertson, Graham, Hagee, Falwell who do not have the least basis for their declarations. Their ignorance is itself a measure of disrespect and narrowness that spreads widely among their followers. Equally it could begin to educate those who should know better and who make decisions based on fear and hate - including those who seem superficially have some knowledge when talking about "abrogation" of versus in the Qu'ran etc. Bashing Islam is a profitable cottage industry and so much easier than a small measure of understanding or empathy.

Prophet Muhammad lived ihsan (beauty appreciated and demonstrated) with charisma even before the first revelation. His role is not like that of Jesus in important ways: neither he nor his followers claimed Divinity: he had immense practical worldly family and political responsibilities that Jesus never had; he provided no redemption or way of evading personal responsibility.

Insightful, devout and learned

Ramadan's scholarship, appreciation for pluralism, personal faith and passion for his Muslim heritage infuse this wonderful book. He takes us on a brief journey through the life of the prophet Muhammad and pauses to reflect on the way the Prophet used specific events to teach his contemporaries and on how those events and teachings have formed the Muslim community over the centuries.

As an American, I appreciated how the book responds to Western mis-understandings of Islam (for example, the greater jihad is the personal struggle to follow Allah; the lesser jihad is armed struggle) without being defensive. As a Christian, I appreciated "going along" with Ramadan as he reflects on his faith and makes it accessible because it comes from the heart.

Interesting theology on Muhammad and Islam

Having studied Islam at university, I bought a number of books about Islam and Islamic thought and culture, and this is one of the books I bought. Some of the books have been negative in nature, often by Muslim and Arab writers, but this book by Mr Ramadan is a positive book about Muhammad and what he means to Islam, and perhaps to the wider world.

It isn't so much the history of Muhammad but more the understanding of Muhammad's life and teachings and the theology and meanings that come from Muhammad's life, teachings and experience. However, I enjoyed reading it and I think it would be valuable for non-Muslims like myself as well as Muslims. I do get a little tired of the constant stream of bad press Islam gets and feel that even if there are negative aspects to Islamic culture and society, we need someone to look at it positively, for balance. Not every Muslim is a terrorist anymore than any Christian or Buddhist or Orthodox Jew.

As a Christian, I don't have to believe in Islam or Judaism or Buddhism, or anything other than Christianity; I am a Christian after all. However, I think I can respect another person's belief and their right to be whatever they want to be and whatever they want to believe in; if I respect a Muslim, he or she might respect me as a Christian. If we want to live in a world of tolerance, we have to learn to be tolerant. Religion should be summed up in four letters: L O V E!

If I have one criticism of the book, it is that it is often uncritical of certain things that are purported to have happened in the development of Islam, and Islamic theology and Islamic culture. No culture is perfect, West or East, Islamic or Christian; there are warmongers and extremists on all sides. Perhaps the moderates, the true believers in a merciful and compassionate and loving God, who truly wants the best for all of us, can claim back some of the territory we so often cede to the haters? I pray for it.

I purchased this book based on the reviews here at Amazon. At the time of the writing of this review 30 of 30 reviews are 5 star reviews. I think I have to be the odd man out on this one.

The basis of this book is Mclean's analysis of the golf swing. Through his years of video analysis he has come to understand the purely essential elements of the golf swing. He transmits this knowledge by identifying 8 steps of the golf swing to the reader. In each step he clearly states the fundamentals (must haves)to the golfer. He clearly knows his stuff and it is written down meticulously in this book.

Just a quick note about my golf experience. Basically, I'm starting fresh from a 20 year absence from the game. I think it fair to say, that I'm at the beginner stages. It has always been my desire to have proper golf instructions, however, they are very costly and not in my current budget. Hence, I decided to buy a book on the golf swing in lieu of lessons. I chose this book because of all the favourable reviews.

What I liked:

Jim Mclean qualifies himself as one who has researched golf swings since the 1960's. I believe him; he has researched the golf swing using a scientific approach to video analysis. I really like the way he has researched the book, it is clearly his life work.

He makes separate lists of both the fundementals and non-fundementals in the golf swing. His research has indicated that many of the popular fad tricks and swings are actually quite bad for the swing. He gives a clear list for both.

Every step of his golf swings are clearly itemized. I really like this format. As I develop and practice my swing I can mentally go through these items much like a checklist. It is a very thorough analysis of each step.

What I didnt like:

Lack of illustrations/photos. The illustrations provided are very good, the photos are lacking in that they are black and white. I learn both by reading and viewing the photos/pictures. There are not even close to enough pictures in the book. I did note that his website has downloadable videos (at a cost), that Im sure clarifys everything, however, I would like to have seen these either in picture or the form of a dvd movie with the book.

He assumes the reader understands golf jargon and linguistics. Terms like open and closed club face, and the "hogan plane" may not be familiar to readers. I found no explanation or diagrams for these terms.

The book assumes that you will use a video camera and analyze your swing using the video. I was not made aware of this prior to buying the book.

Frequent mentions of his golf school leaving me with the feeling that what I really need is the golf school and this book is only a supplement to the classes.

Finally, I'm sure the drills that he offers are very good, however, all of them are explained in text and have no accompanying pictures. Most of them I was guessing at what I was supposed to do, because I just could not picture it.

All these negatives and yet I give the book 4 stars! The reason for this is the obvious completeness of his analysis which is clearly transmitted to the book. Of all the negatives I put in this review, the most glaring to me is the lack of demonstration of the drills in the form of pictures or photos. A good book with a few minor shortcomings. In my opinion, the book provides only part of the teaching method, the remainder can be picked up on his website at additional cost. Because of the thoroughness of the material, I can see myself making these purchases to complete my knowledge. However, I wish the book would have said this at the onset. It has come as somewhat of a surprise to me.

Misleading Title for Book

I thought I was paying $6.00 for the e-book, "8 Step Golf Swing". Little did
I know that the $6.00 would only buy me step 1. I need to spend another $42.00 for the complete book, all 8 steps. No golf book is worth $48.00! I think I just wasted $6.00.

A step by step helpmate

This is a good guide to understanding and improving the golf swing. It does require a video which did not come with the book, but which, fortunately, I had. Even without the video it is of some help
