A keeper, the first in the Bachelor Battalion Series.

Neither Harding or Elizabeth were looking for someone to love. Harding because he'd failed already at marriage and Elizabeth certainly didn't want a marine and the nomadic lifestyle that went with him, but that doesn't stop her sister or his best friend from trying to set them up. Although they acknowledge the intense attraction to each other they agree it's best to be friends, right. Okay, more than friends but without strings. It takes them a while to figure out what everyone else can already see. They are made for each other. My only complaint is that the story takes place quickly and feels a bit rushed towards the end, I would love to see what 200 extra pages could have done for the story. Ms. Child has brought back other characters, why not Harding and Elizabeth? I would love an update on them.

About the Author
Dr. Rexford E. Santerre, Professor of Finance and Healthcare Management at the University of Connecticut, has taught at the college level for more than 25 years. In addition to co-authoring HEALTH ECONOMICS, he has written numerous articles for various general and specialty academic journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Applied Health Economics and Health Policy, Economic Inquiry, Healthcare Management Review, Health Economics, International Journal of Health Care Finance and Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Medical Care Research and Review, National Tax Journal, Public Choice, Southern Economic Journal, and The Review of Economics and Statistics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Stephen Neun is Vice President for Academic Affairs at Antioch University New England. He previous served as Academic Dean at Anna Maria College, as Professor of Economics, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, and as Dean of the School of Graduate and Extended Studies at Utica College. In addition to co-authoring HEALTH ECONOMICS, he has published articles on Federal Reserve policy and the location decision of primary care. He also has published articles on executive compensation and corporate control in such journals as the Quarterly Journal of Business, Economics and Managerial Decision Economics, and The Review of Economics and Statistics. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Connecticut.

Excellent book, well written, very informative

Required reading for my Economics of Healthcare class, but the book was entirely fascinating and interesting. Made me look at insurance and healthcare differently.

Useful, especially with the upcoming elections. Very insightful on economics of the healthcare system in several countries.

Great booklet

In this booklet, Mike takes the student through a bunch of linear patterns for the drums.
The teaching technique is simple but good. The first line lists out the sticking pattern along with the note structure.

There is a very dominant pattern running through the book, as well. Asking you to get comfortable with the pattern before moving on with it. This can sometimes be a trying process, with great rewards.

Every pattern I've seen throughout the book has asked you for four limbed independence, even if it's just asking you to keep a quarter note pulse with your left foot.

For what my own opinion is worth, this book is a steal of a deal. 30 dollars is a light cost for what going through Linear Drumming by Mike Johnston has done for my drumming.

This is a very straight forward but very effective drumming book presented in a easy to read and learn fashion. Fantastic, will certainly increase your drumming ability.

Wielding extraordinary command over a mass of historical detail, Dinan clarifies the alternatives considered by state constitution makers and the reasons for the adoption or rejection of various governing principles and institutions. Among other things, he shows that the states are nearly universal in their rejection of the rigid federal model of the constitutional amendment process, favoring more flexible procedures for constitutional change; they often grant citizens greater direct participation in law-making; they have debated and at times rejected the value of bicameralism; and they have altered the veto powers of both the executive and judicial branches.

Dinan also shows that, while the Founders favored a minimalist design and focused exclusively on protecting individuals from government action, state constitution makers have often adopted more detailed constitutions, sometimes specifying positive rights that depend on government action for their enforcement. Moreover, unlike the federal constitution, state constitutions often contain provisions dedicated to the formation of citizen character, ranging from compulsory schooling to the regulation of gambling or liquor.

By integrating state constitution making with the federal constitutional tradition, this path-breaking work widens and deepens our understanding of the principles by which we've chosen to govern ourselves.

Frustrating

I use this book for a statistics course in college. Learning statistics with this book is simply frustrating. The way it explains things is to throw at you definitions and go directly from there to arrive at corollaries and theorems. The problem is it does not even explain what the concept is. It would define something as the result of an equation without even bothering to explicate the intuition behind the mathematical symbol. That not only makes the book extremely uninteresting but creates difficulties for comprehension.

Extremely Clear, Approachable, and Sufficiently Rigorous

Statistics courses tend to bifurcate into two tracks -- extremely applied treatments for engineering, biological, and some social science students -- and quite sophisticated treatments for mathematics and statistics students. This book falls between those tracks, and is really remarkable in doing so. All proofs are thoroughly motivated, with the intuition of them stressed. Derivations assume an intermediate proof writing ability (advanced and well endowed mathematics students will find them pedantic, I'm sure). The exercises are quite challenging, but not in a way that many texts are, in that they assume written material has been understood with great depth, and then challenge readers to interesting cases and extensions of that material. Those sorts of exercises exist in the text, but more traditional cookbook style exercises obtain as well to walk readers into the material. This is one of the best statistics texts I have ever read.
