Classic Christmas story

This story gives a practical description of Life and what matters most in a life of real difficulty and generosity. Bear one another's burdens we are exhorted but today Christmas seems to be so egotistical and focused on a Hallmark image that real life and real people are left out of the picture. Christmas on Exeter Street reminds us that Christmas is welcoming others into our lives with love, kindness and generosity that manifests the presence of Jesus in our heart.

Very telegraphic

Had the authors developed the line on decoders and how they actually decoded the telegramm, the article would be more interesting. Too much room for explaining how they cheated the Germans to prevent them of knowing how it was decoded and not how they did it. After so many years I think there's no need to cover the codes anymore. Just if you are too interested on the matter.

Great book, but be aware on online quiz code.

The book itself is very good. However, BE AWARE that each book contains a unique code in the front cover for taking the online quizzes that are required for this class (at Liberty University). Once the code has been used, it cannot be re-used. So if you are taking this class for credit, you must purchase a BRAND NEW book. You cannot purchase an online quiz code separately (I tried!). Thus, the re-sale value of this book is zero, unless you happen to find someone who wants the book to study without actually taking the class for college credit. My daughter ran into this problem, unknowingly purchasing a used book on Amazon, then having to purchase a second brand-new book to take the quizzes. THEN, my son took the class the very next semester, and could not use his sister's book, but had to buy another brand-new copy. (Someone please plant a tree to replace all this paper!) But... they both said that the book and class are very good.

Had a lot of useful information in it for someone starting college online

Bought this book used. This is a book used for Liberty University. You will need a access code that normally comes with the new book. I was able to call the company and they gave me another access code to use with the book. Book was a little rough shape when I got it but that did not matter to me as I don't care how it looks as long as I can read the pages. Had a lot of useful information in it for someone starting college online. This goes though some of the history of Liberty University too. Great Christian University!

Not a "How To" Book But How To Think About Money Biblically

I purchased this book when browsing the bookstore as Nehemiah is one of my favorite books of the Bible. Mr. Cross walks the reader through the book of Nehemiah and shows how this ancient story is applicable to our financial lives today, rather creatively at times. The 52 days refers to the 52 chapters and makes a nice devotional as each chapter is only a few pages. Each chapter starts with scripture from Nehemiah (in order) and then explains the financial lesson to be gleaned from the verse or verses.

This is not a dry or complex "how to" book on how to invest in the stock market or figure out a budget, etc. Each chapter's/lesson's purpose to get you to rewire your thinking about money so that you can handle it properly and not be in bondage to debt. It's not a "get rich" or "prosperity Gospel" book. As the author explains at the end of Day 19/Chapter 19: "Live in obedience and honor the King, and He will make getting out of debt, living below your means, savings, and investing in the kingdom pleasureful."

Appropriate for anyone due to simple, straightforward lessons, preteen and older.

The author is honest about his own mishandling of his finances, which got him into considerable trouble, and then how he managed to get onto the right path. When you read about the trouble he got himself into, then the person he became by changing his attitudes about money, you will become encouraged. The chapters are not just about Nehemiah's time but also modern stories that are relatable.

I am rereading this worthy book that encourages Christians to put their faith in God and not money for their happiness. To summarize from page 23: "Most of the 2,350 verses in the Bible on money and possessions are warnings against the mishandling of God's resources." Use this book as a devotional to get onto or remain on the proper path.

By the way, I usually only write reviews on books I enjoy unless the individual is a famous author and can survive a bad review, in case you wonder why my reviews are normally positive ones.
